Koica faced the challenge of improving health services for patients with non-communicable chronic diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension, in Paraguay. It was crucial to continuously monitor patients during their treatment and analyze the collected data to improve decision-making in public health programs.
Design
As for the design process, we use Figma, a tool which allows our team to work collaboratively with our clients by offering an interactive, detailed and real-time view of the design progress.
Development
Using the Scrum methodology, we developed the platform using Django Rest Framework, a Python-based framework, for the backend. For the frontend, we used React, a JavaScript-based framework.
Training
Once the website is up and running, we teach our clients everything they need to know so they can make their own modifications and updates. Through a few training sessions, they learn to manage their website by themselves.
Maintance
We understand the need to have developers on hand for urgent matters or simple inquiries about how to do it, so we offer support after the project is complete with our team of professionals.
Result
To address this challenge, a technological tool was developed for nurses and doctors responsible for case follow-up.
This platform allowed for the efficient collection of information, even in rural health centers where connectivity can be limited. The collected data is 100% available, ensuring continuous monitoring of patients.
The platform not only allows for data visualization and analysis but also for downloading the data to make informed decisions and conduct future public health research.
Thanks to this tool, Koica has improved the quality of health services for patients with chronic diseases in Paraguay and strengthened the country’s capacity to address these challenges effectively and based on evidence.
